Kate makes a winning return

After a break of two months or so from competition Kate Veale West
Waterford AC was back in action at a meeting in Holland on Saturday
last and she made a winning return.She easily won the 3000 metres walk
in a time of 15 minutes 32 seconds, Liesbet de Smet Belgium was second
in 16.56 and Sandra Maas Netherlands was third in 17.00. Also on
Saturday in Stonybrook University in New York Shane Quinn Ferrybank AC
competing for Providence College had a  very impressive win in a cross
country race. Frank Quinlan Waterford AC was second in the Dublin Half
Marathon on Saturday last in a time of 1 hr 12 minutes and 28 seconds
and Mary B Ryan Jennings do was first in the over 55 category

Adamstown Cross Country.

Athletes from West Waterford and Waterford AC competed at the
Adamstown Co Wexford Open Cross Country fixture on Sunday last and
they had some good results. For West Waterfod there were wins by Aoife
Hamilton u 15, Patrick Walsh u 13 and Oisin O'Riordan u 10, second
placings went to Emily O'Mahony u 12, Miceal Power u 15 ,Lucy Holmes u
12  and Tholm Reddy u 16  and the following had third placings Meg
Ryan u 15, Mark O'Mahony u 9 and Shane O'Riordan u15. For Waterford AC
there were wins by Jack Corcoran u 9 and Lynsey McGuire u 12 and Jamie
McCarthy was third u 15.

Munster Schools Combined Events

On this Wednesday September 18 th the Munster Schools Combined Events
Championships are at Cork IT Track and not at the RSC as originally
planned. A small number of athletes from Waterford schools will
compete. There are  categories for boys and girls junior ,intermediate
and senior and 1st years, the starting time is 11 am Further details
058 43116 after 6 pm.The All Ireland Schools Combined Events will be
in Santry on Saturday September 29 th. Next week we will have details
of County Cross Country championship dates and all clubs will have
them this Tuesday by E mail

Kilmacow Open Cross Country

On Sunday next September 23 rd  the Annual Kilmacow Open Cross Country
fixture has a 1 pm start at the Sports Complex in Kilmacow. Races for
boys and girls u 8, 9,10, 12,14,16,18, junior men and women, senior
men and women including masters This event was originally fixed for
September 30 th but is now brought forward to Sunday next
.
Ballyduff Race

Ballyduff Lower GAA Club will hold a 5 miles Road race on Saturday
October 6th at 4.30 pm and it will be preceded by a walk at
4pm.Entries on day at Ballyduff Community Hall see full details on
runireland website. The 10 Miles Run For Life will be in the city on
Sunday October 14 th
