Five winners at  National Juvenile Championships

Last week end it was the turn of our juveniles to show their paces at
the GloHealth National Championships in Tullamore and over Saturday
and Sunday they won five titles with four for Ferrybank and one for
Waterford.The Ferrybank winners were Paul Murphy 400 metres u 19,
Aisling Quinn 3000 metres u 17, Tom Gallagher high jump u 14 and Neasa
Murphy u 18 high jump..silver medals were won by Órlaith O'Brien u 16
shot putt, James Bagge u 14 1500 metres,Praise Oweye u 12 long jump
and Kylie Heinen u 13 high jump and a bronze medal was won by Siobhan
Whelan in the under 19 triple jump.Waterford AC had their win with
James Murphy in the under 15 triple jump and he also collected a
silver in the high jump, Cathal Scanlon also won a silver in the u 13
javelin and bronze medals went to Shane Cawley and Sarah Jacob both in
the under 13 grade in the shot putt,Órla O'Connor u 15 walk and Emma
Caulfield u 14 walk. Both clubs had athletes with near misses
finishing fourth in their events.

No joy for Niamh

At the World Junior Athletic Championships in Eugene Oregan last week
Niamh Mc Nicol Ferrybank AC finished 6 th in her heat of the 200
metres in 25.38
seconds well outside her best time of 24.33 and didn't progress to the
semi final, the race was won in 24.20 seconds, Niamh is eligible to
compete in two years time at these championships

Ballymacarbry Five Miles

165 competed in the 19 th Annual Doocey's Bar 5 miles road race in
Ballymacarbry on Friday last and the convincing winner was Kevin
Maunsell Clonmel in 25 minutes 55 seconds, Philip Harty West Waterford
was second in 26.11 and Trevor Power Waterford AC  third in 26.55.
First lady home was Órna Murray Ferrybank in 30.22, Angela Mc Cann
Clonmel was second in 31.16 and Sinéad Mansfield West Waterford third
in 32.20. The category winners were Men; o 40 Alan Ryan West
Waterford,o 45 Jim Baldwin Waterford, o 50 Ray Hahessy West Waterford,
o 55 Tommy Cahill Clonmel junior Phil Hunter Sligo. Women o 35 Mary
Molloy ( Ind ), o 40 Brigid Coffey West Waterford o 45 Ann Dunford
do,o 50 Una Uí Mhuirrithe ( Ind ) junior Ciara Burke West Waterford,
the event was part of the Ger Wyley Sports/Skins series.

Piltown 10 Km

The Outfield Sports Three County Challenge 5 race Series concludes on
Friday next August 1st with the Morris Oil Piltown 10 Km  road race in
Piltown Co Kilkenny which starts at 7.30 pm Entries will be taken from
6.00 pm at Piltown GAA Club.

Track and Field August

Saturday 2 nd  National  Combined Events Championship  all Categories
Tullamore , Sunday 3 rd  National League Final Tullamore, Saturday 9
th  Celtic Games Morton Stadium, Sunday 10 th National  Masters Track
& Field Championships Tullamore, 12 th to 17 th  European

China, Sunday 31 st Munster ( B ) Juvenile Templemore.

Road Races August

Monday  4 th National Half Marathon, Dublin, 8.30 am Friday 8 th
Marine Climb 6 miles Ger Wyley Sports/Skins Series Dungarvan 7.30 pm,
Sunday 10 th Island 5 Km Run Waterford Castle Grounds1 pm. Friday 15
th Liz Hayes Memorial 5 miles Road Race Ballyduff Lower 7.30 pm ,
Friday 22 nd  Glaxosmithkline 5 Miles Dungarvan Ger Wyley Sports/Skins
Series Friday 29 th Gensyme 5 Miles Old Kilmeaden Road Waterford 7 pm.

Correction

In the report last week on the National  Senior Championships in
Santry Sean Archer Ferrybank was listed as being fourth in the triple
jump but he was in fact third just as in 2013 and 2012. Sean had his
best result of the series in the final effort with 13.73 metres to
take the bronze medal.-mea culpa.
