Another major Master's victory for Joe Gough

> The brilliant career of Joe Gough West Waterford in Masters Athletics
> continued in style on Saturday last at the European Master's Track and
> Field Championships in Izmir in Turkey. Competing in the final of the
> over 60 800 metres against 10 other athletes from seven European
> countries Joe outclassed the field to win very decisively in a time of
> 2 minutes 20.89 seconds well outside his best time but the event was
> tactical and Joe is a great judge of pace and sprinted clear in the
> straight.Walter Rentsch Germany was second in 2.22.35 and Yves
> Levassuer France was third in 2.25.37. Earlier in the year Joe won the
> World Indoor 800 metres title to add to the other European and World
> medals he has won in different age categories in the past. He is a man
> totally devoted and dedicated to his sport and his results are clear
> proof of this during his entire career particularly in master's
> events.

> KCK were the only Waterford club to compete at the Munster ( B )
> Juvenile Track and Field Championships in Templemore on Sunday last
> and they did very well. They had two wins with Rena Behan in the 800
> metes u 15 and Ellen Boylan in the long jump u 11, silver medals were
> won by Emily Keane in the under 15 long jump and Seamus Fitzgerald
> under 13 long jump and bronze medals were won by Paudie Barry under 11
> turbo javelin and Rena Behan under 15 100 metres.

> Approximately 300 runners and walkers participated in the Annual
> Genzyme 5 miles road race on the outskirts of the city on Friday
> evening last, the proceeds going to MS Ireland. A group of  six

> Power,  Frank Quinlan and Noel Murphy Waterford, Niall Tuohy
